Introduction

Coral reefs, mud volcanos, and South-East Asia’s highest mountain; green turtles and orangutans; sparkling waterfalls, tropical jungles, mossy cloud forests; and the world’s largest flower.

All these can be found in Sabah’s park – areas set aside for the conservation and protection of some of the richest plant and animal communities in the world.

All 6 State parks are controlled and funded by the State Government, through a Board of Trustees under the State’s Ministry of Tourism and Environment Development.

Together, the parks cover approximately 2.6% of Sabah’s total land area of 76,115 sq. km. They are managed to provide recreational and scientific facilities while preserving Sabah’s natural heritage for future generations.
